Rehearse for a play to perform for the community. Must be able to commit to rehearsal and performance time, 4-6 performances.


Young actors will experience artistic self-discovery through theater games, movement, improvisation, vocalization, monologue and scene study. Performance at end of the session.


Rehearse for a one-act play for performance. Must be able to commit to rehearsal and performance time (3-5 performances). Previous acting experience is not required.


Develop your acting skills through movement, vocalization, improvisation, character development, dialect work, monologue and scene study. Previous acting experience is not required.


Have fun making puppets and props. Students will write a short play for the puppets to be performed at the end of the session.


Focus in on active participation in a play which will be presented at the end of class. Emphasis will be on understanding the theme of the play, creating a character, and learning the process of putting a theatrical production together. Performance at the end of the session.

has a Bachelor of Arts in Theater Arts degree from UCLA and also studied at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. As an actress she has performed in a variety of plays by contemporary as well as classical playwrights. She has worked on stage, as well as film and commercials. Valarie has been teaching Drama with Freedom Area Rec. Council since 1994.
